2017 EPC Nominee: Cameron Bailey

Cameron EPC

Cameron Bailey of Toronto, ON, was nominated by Sally Lee

In addition to championing high profile initiatives for women in film, black filmmakers, and other underrepresented groups in the global film industry through the platform provided by TIFF, where he is Artistic Director, Cameron has quietly been donating his time at organizations like Each One Teach One and at Western University’s School for Arts and Humanities. He has, over the years, also made it a priority to mentor promising next-generation filmmakers and cultural leaders from the black community, recognizing the value in providing opportunities to those facing systemic barriers to pursuing careers in the arts.

Raised by a single mother in the suburbs of Toronto, Cameron remembers the challenges he faced along the way to getting where he is today, and not only remains connected to those communities, but also continues to give back, ensuring that everyone can benefit from the talents and stories of those who have been historically overlooked.
