2017 EPC Nominee: Archna Abrol

Archna EPC

Archna Abrol of Ottawa, ON, was nominated by Elena Goubanova from Multifaith Housing Initiative

Archna Abrol is a person who is deeply committed to promotion of the Multifaith Housing Initiative’s (MHI) mission to end homelessness in our cities, and her volunteer work as Chair of the MHI Outreach Committee and a as Board member attests to this. She has devoted countless hours of hard work into engaging the various local faith communities in helping MHI build affordable housing in Ottawa. The community fundraising events she organizes are always fun and inclusive, and have a transformative effect on participants’ perception of their role in making our communities better.

I nominate Archna Abrol as this year’s EPC because her dedication to the democratic value of inclusive and open community extends beyond her involvement with MHI. She has persued her passion for social equality through her many executive leadership roles at the India Canada Association, Viswa Shakti Durga Mandir Association, ESL teachers union at the Ottawa-Carleton School Board, India-Canada Cultural Centre, Social Network of Women, Rogers Community TV and multicultural Canada Day celebrations across the city.
