Tom Rosenstiel, Director and author

Mr. Rosenstiel is the director of the Pew Center's Project for Excellence in Journalism, and the editor and principal author of its annual State of the News Media report, the most comprehensive study on the trends and challenges in American journalism, now in its seventh year. He has worked as a journalist for more than 30 years, as media critic for the Los Angeles Times, and chief congressional correspondent for Newsweek magazine. Mr. Rosenstiel is vice chairman of the Committee of Concerned Journalists, an initiative engaged in conducting a national conversation among journalists about standards and values, which he co-founded and formerly managed.
