2017 EPC Nominee: Nicholas Schiavo

Nicholas Schiavo of Ottawa, ON, was nominated by Lakshmi Ganesan 

Nick is an outspoken youth advocate who believes in empowering others. His actions speak volumes about his character as he continues to build the next generation of young leaders, thinkers and doers. This is why he should be an Everyday Political Citizen.

Nick serves as the Director of Programs for the Young Diplomats of Canada (YDC).YDC is a non-profit, nonpartisan, youth-led and fully-volunteer organization that develops the leadership and advocacy of young Canadians through key partnerships at high-level summits. In short, YDC is an organization of youth working for youth. As a Director, Nick recruits, trains and facilitates international youth delegations of young Canadians to major decision making summits.

YDC provides youth with the much-needed space to develop policy recommendations, influence legislation, begin dialogue with high-level stakeholders and hold formal accreditation at the world’s largest decision-making summits.

By empowering youth to take their rightful seat at the table, Nick is strengthening Canadian democracy and policy development. He is a community leader and inspiration to many.
