#MyFirstTime (Voting)

With the Ontario provincial election fast approaching, Vote Savvy (a national, non-partisan, youth-led organization) asked the Samara team to share our first voting experiences for their #MyFirstTime campaign. While our stories varied somewhat, there was a common thread running through many of them. Can you figure out what it is? (Let us know on social media.)

#MyFirstTime started as an online campaign during the 2015 federal election to help promote youth voter turnout and political engagement. With the help of the Laidlaw Foundation’s PopUP Funding Opportunity for Youth-led Groups in Ontario, #MyFirstTime kicked off again to encourage young people in Ontario to vote in the provincial election on June 7th.

To find out how, when, and where to vote, all you have to do is head to Elections Ontario's website at www.elections.on.caAlthough most residents of Ontario are automatically registered to vote, you can visit their Voter Registration page to confirm, update, or add your information to the Voters List in just a few easy steps.

Encourage more young people to head to the polls by sharing your “first time” on social media, and tag Vote Savvy at @VoteSavvy!

Need more reasons to join in? Check out our latest infographic and find out why it's time Ontarians showed their provincial democracy some love.
