RSVP: Confronting Online Harm with MPs

Online Harm

In the age of social media, how can we confront online harm and protect democracy?

Social media can make our democracy more vibrant and inclusive. But online incivility and harassment have a negative impact on our elected leaders and their ability to connect with constituents. As the Samara Centre has reported, online vitriol also affects how Canadians engage with politics.

WHAT: Virtual Event Confronting Online Harm
WHEN: Thursday, February 11th, 1:00 - 2:15 pm EST
WHERE: Zoom Meeting (Register below to receive the link)

Join the Samara Centre and FRIENDS of Canadian Broadcasting for a critical and timely discussion about how online harm impacts Canadian politics and what can be done to address it. This free event will feature MPs Charlie Angus, Iqra Khalid, and Bob Zimmer, as well as UBC researchers Chris Tenove and Heidi Tworek, FRIENDS of Canadian Broadcasting’s Daniel Bernhard, and our own Adelina Petit-Vouriot.

The discussion will conclude with questions from the audience. To learn more and register, visit the event page.

We hope to see you then!
